Frances Kuli’a’ikanu’ukapu Griffith, age 71, of the Stinson Ridge section of Jewell Ridge, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital. She was born in Kula, Maui, Hawaii and was the daughter of the late Martin I. Purdy, Sr. and Frances H. Delima Purdy. Frances was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked as an office administrator for SVCC for many years and was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richlands, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor Kalama. She is survived by: Her loving Husband of thirty five years, Earl Wesley Griffith, Sr. Daughters: Vanessa K. Purdy of Abingdon, VA Jaime K. Griffith of Tazewell, VA Special Niece whom she loved like a daughter, Cynthia K. Purdy of Dupont, Washington One Step Son, Earl Griffith, Jr. and wife, Tammy of Jewell Ridge, VA Two Step Daughters: Sherry Griffith of Richlands, VA Terri Reidenbaugh and husband, Bob of Tulsa, OK Two Brothers: Leslie Purdy and wife, Tamara of Kamuela, Hawaii Martin Purdy, Jr. and wife, Terri of Hilo, Hawaii Grandchildren: Rebecca Stout and husband, Jason; Benjamin Smith; Autumn Perkins and husband, Brandon; E. W. Griffith, III and wife, Ashely; George Larry Gillespie; Elizabeth Cleary and husband, Sam; Duth Gillespie and wife, Brittani; Cherish Griffith; Rachel Tatum and husband, Gary Lee; Ella Stevenson, Bryce Griffith, and Catherine Reidenbaugh. Great Grandchildren: Willow Stout, Ryder Perkins, Izabella Griffith, Isaac Griffith, Jillian Gillespie, Zander Gillespie, Charlez Griffith, Logan Tatum, Lexie Tatum and Sophie Jackson. Funeral services for Frances K. Griffith will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richlands, Virginia with the Father Paul Muyimbwa officiating. Pallbearers will be Ben Smith, Jason Stout, E.W. Griffith, III, Brandon Perkins, Lincoln Kalama, Cynthia Purdy and Larry Gillespie. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm on Monday evening at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
