Frances Smith Jackson

Frances Smith Jackson, age 69, of Raven, Virginia passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Clinch Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born March 24, 1943 in Jewell Ridge, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Ed and Edgar Shortt Smith. Frances was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed singing, embroidering and attending church. She was a member of the Gloryland Tabernacle Church at Short Gap, Virginia and was a lifelong resident of the Raven area. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Burton Keene; son, Billy Dale Keene; and one brother, Lester (Groundhog) Smith. She is survived by: Her Husband of 37 years, Jimmie Jackson of Raven, Virginia Daughters: Connie Cordle and husband, Randy of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Rebecca Doggett and husband, Jon of Oxford, Georgia Son, Darryl Keene and wife, Brenda of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Grandchildren: Brandon and Leslie Keene, Brent and Telina Doggett, Jared and Rachel Keene, Jeremy Keene, Nicole Cordle, Nichelle Cordle, Rachel Doggett and Christopher Doggett Great Grandchildren: Amelia Grace Keene, Allison Faith Keene and Ollie Kate Doggett Sister, Ada Horn of Meadowview, Virginia Brothers: Curt Smith and wife, Margie of Richlands, Virginia Johnnie Smith and wife, Jean of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Don Smith of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Several nieces and nephews also survive along with special sister-in-law, Betty Smith; and special friends, Jackie Richardson and Pam Coleman. Funeral Services for Frances Smith Jackson will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Gloryland Tabernacle at Short Gap, Virginia with the Rev. Don Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be H. B. Coleman, Buford Mitchell, John Boyd, Bennie Jo Shortt, Jared Keene, Brent Doggett, Jeremy Keene and Christopher Doggett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Floyd Lester, Bo Lester, Dorsal Horn, Randall Horn and Brandon Keene.
