Frances Lee Shortt

Frances Lee Shortt, age 87, of Richlands, VA passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Commonwealth Memory Care, Claypool Hill, VA following a lengthy illness. She was born in Russell County, VA and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillie Stallard Osborne of Russell County, VA. Ms. Shortt was a class of 1946 graduate of Richlands High School. She was a retired insurance clerk for Peoples Life Insurance Company and lived all her life in the Richlands area. She was a member of Cedar Bluff Community Church of Claypool Hill, VA. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Lee “Punk” Shortt in 1991; one son, Michael Shortt; five sisters and six brothers. She is survived by: One Daughter, Elmalee Phillips and husband, George of Morristown, TN Three Sons: Christopher Lee Shortt and wife, Jean of Richlands, VA Kevin Mark Shortt and wife, Patsy of Richlands, VA Robert Duvall and wife, Irene of Baptist Valley, VA One Sister, Mrs. Betty Hablutzel of Florence, KY Eleven Grandchildren: Elaine Forgeron and husband, Steve; Dawn Osborne, Charles Osborne and wife, Ann; Sharon Osborne; Lisa Ann Shortt; Lynette Nason and husband, Todd, David Maggard and wife, Lisa; Corey Looney and husband, Shannon; Jessie Kennedy and husband, Josh; Rodney Dowdy and Kim Cantrell. Also surviving are twenty-three great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Funeral services for Frances Lee Shortt will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands, VA with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be: Gene Whitt, Jonathan Croft, Jordan Griffith, David Maggard, Danny Brown and Jimmy Hunnell. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
