Franklin Robert "Bob" Jones

Franklin Robert “Bob” Jones, age 84, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at his home. He was born in Kimbal, West Virginia and was the son of the late George R. Jones and Dorothy Burks Jones. Robert was a 52 year member of the Richlands Masonic Lodge #318 AF&AM. He was a past master of his lodge and a 50 year member of the Royal Arch Masons of Tazewell. He was also a past Patron and a 52 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Richlands Chapter #104. Robert was an avid racing enthusiast. Many weekends were spent with Brenda, Bruce, and Teri enjoying the races all over the south. When he couldn’t go, you would find him watching them on TV with his mother in law, Irene Green, whom he lovingly called Granny. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Bruce Jones; sisters, Sybil Jean Jones, Dorothy Marie Scarborough, Elizabeth Ann Farley, Sherry Lynn Vass, and Rhonda Gail Lucian; brothers, Lawrence “Duke” Jones and Randy Dale Jones. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survivors are: His Wife of 62 years, Brenda Green Jones Daughter: Teresa “Teri” Rogers of Elizabethton, TN Grandchildren: Brannan L. Vanover and husband, Cody of Elizabethton, TN; Jeremy Stallard and wife, Heather of Clintwood, VA; Matthew Jones of Wheeling, WV; R. Bruce Jones, II of Richlands, VA; and Aleishia Berry of Bishop, VA Sixteen Great-Grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Franklin Robert “Bob” Jones will be conducted Monday, January 12, 2026 at 12pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Craig Barber officiating. Interment will follow at Temple Hill Cemetery in Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Cody Vanover, Scott Vass, Doug Vass, Shane Jones, Matthew Jones, and Jeremy Stallard. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Peyton Vanover, Bryce Jones, and Wyatt Vanover. Friends may visit with the family from 11am until 12pm on Monday prior to the funeral. Members of the Richlands Masonic Lodge #318 AF&AM will conduct masonic rites at 12pm on Monday.
