George Franklin Dunford Jr.

George (Bucky) Franklin Dunford, Jr., loving husband, father, brother, son-in-law, and granddad, passed away on November 21, 2024, at his home in Berwind, West Virginia. George was the son of the late George Franklin Dunford, Sr. and Ada Stacy Dunford. He was born on May 8, 1949, in Vallscreek, West Virginia. He worked for many years for Consolidated Coal Company, where he was a dedicated worker and true perfectionist, whether in mechanical or construction. He was a proud member of the UMWA. George worked hard to provide for his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. His favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, gardening, watching his grandson play sports, and enjoying spending time with all his grandchildren and family. George was known to be very outgoing and never met a stranger. George is survived by: His loving wife, Terry Ann Dunford of Berwind, WV His son Phillip Dunford of Vallscreek, WV His brothers Leroy Dunford and wife Shelia of Abingdon, VA; Calvin Dunford and wife Kaye of Baptist Valley, VA; Eddie Dunford of Castlewood, VA; and Buddy Edwards of Saltville, VA His grandchildren are Adyn Dunford and Kimber Dunford of Princeton, WV, and Brandon Dunford of Vallscreek, WV. His special friends Johnny Quesenberry, Brenda Barton, Betty Josephine Fowler, and Jennifer Duty Visitation services for George Franklin Dunford, Jr., will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home with officiating ministers Brother Wade Quesenberry and Brother Darrell Long. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memorial Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Those serving as pallbearers are Phillip Dunford, Johnny Quesenberry, Brandon Dunford, Adyn Dunford, James Asbury, Jamie Martin, and Roy Monk. UMWA Chaplain Corp will conduct a Memorial service in honor of George Dunford on Monday at 1:00 PM.
