Gladys Mae Arnold

Gladys Mae Arnold, age 76, of Bandy, VA went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 13, 2014 in Abingdon, VA. She was born February 15, 1938 in Oakwood, VA and was the daughter of the late James and Emily Black Lester former Buchanan County residents. Gladys was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a class of 1956 graduate of Garden Creek High School. Gladys was an employee of the Raven Drug Store for 22 years. She lived in Tazewell County most of her life and lived in the Dry Fork area at the time of her death. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl (Squirt) Davis; and two brothers, Randy Lester and Infant Gary Charles Lester. Left to cherish her Memory are: Her Loving Husband, Homer Arnold One Daughter, Rita Mitchell and husband, Leon of Cedar Bluff, VA One Son, Donald Davis of Pounding Mill, VA Five Stepchildren: Les Arnold, Cathy Nelson, Christine Anderson, Janet Shaw, Donna Marrs Three Grandchildren Jarrett Davis and wife, Donita of Pounding Mill, VA Brittany Richardson and husband, Jason of Pounding Mill, VA Nathan Mitchell of Johnson City, TN Two Great Grandchildren: Hunter Davis and Jaylynn Richardson Four Sisters: Oretha Browning of Louisa County, VA Bertha Hale of Louisa, VA Betty Hockenberry of Fenwick, MI Kathleen Gillespie of Fort Meade, FL Three Brothers: Tommy Lester of Alexandria, VA Jerry Lester of MI Lew Roy Lester of Cedar Bluff, VA Former Daughter-in-Law, Connie Allen and husband, Doug of Pounding Mill, VA Several nieces and nephews also survive along with church families from Worship Hymn Church and New Hope Assembly. Funeral services for Gladys Mae Arnold will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with Rev. Doug Allen officating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be: Daniel Murray, Jason Richardson, Jarrett Davis, Anthony Marrs and Eddie Miller. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Saturday evening at the funeral home.
