Glenda K. Ray Sizemore

Glenda K. Ray Sizemore, age 73, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, November 03, 2015 at her home. Heaven gained another angel and our loss is truly heaven’s gain. Glenda said “lets meet by the river someday and what a day of rejoicing that will be.” She was born in Buchanan County, VA and was the daughter of the late Dawson and Ethel Herndon Ray. She had made her home in the Swords Creek area most of her life and was a Honaker High School Class of 1959 graduate. She was a former nurse at CVMC and was a retired correctional officer from the state of Virginia. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Rosedale, VA and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Faye Brown and brother, Larry D. Ray. Survivors are: Husband of 47 years: Herman “Bill” Sizemore Daughter: Shelley Miller and husband, Chris of Lebanon, Virginia Son: Vincent Sizemore of Swords Creek, Virginia Step Son: Billy Sizemore and wife, Melissa of Cincinnati, Ohio Two Grandchildren: Madison Miller and Dawson Miller Three Step grandchildren: Taylor Sizemore, Casey Sizemore and Bailey Sizemore Sisters: Gay Matney and husband, Jack of Swords Creek, Virginia Special Sister: Carol Sizemore of Raven, Virginia who was with her during her sickness and helped take care of her for many years. Brother: Jimmy Ray and wife, Phyllis of Swords Creek, Virginia Special Sister-in-Law and Brother in Law: Loretta and Cecil Whited of Brooklyn, OH Canine Companion and the joy of her life: Gracie Several nieces and nephews also survive. Glenda and her family deeply appreciate Divine Home Health; and a special nurse, Benita Holmes, RN; and special CNA, Kim Brewer; and also Legacy Ambulance Services, Jerry Dunford and his crew, for all their help and kindness. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 2pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Mike McFarlane, Rev. Rick Blevins, and Rev. Arnold King officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Jerry Dunford, Dwayne Whited, Brian White, Jim Richardson, and Wendall Sargent.
