Goldie Cooper

Goldie Marie Cooper, age 86 of Cedar Bluff, Virginia went to be with her lord on Monday, November 28, 2011 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in the Spruce Pine area of Whitewood, Virginia and was the daughter of the late James Henry “Jim” Cantrell and Celia Katherine Rife Cantrell. She was a loving mother of eight children and spent her life being a homemaker, mother and wife. She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a Christian for over 60 years. Goldie had a strong faith in God and lived her life as a witness to everyone who knew her. She was a lifetime resident of the area and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Therman D. Cooper; Sons, Larry, Terry and James Cooper; Infant daughter Melda Faye Cooper; step-daughter Delane Sahagun; three sisters, Virgie Maggard Livingston, Ellen Cooper Harman Vanover and Belvia Cantrell; four brothers, Burleigh , Hufford, Frenchman and Clyde Cantrell Those who remain to carry on her spirit are: Sons: Garry Cooper and wife Ruth of Gray Court, SC Jerry Cooper of Fountain Inn, SC Leonard Cooper and wife Louise of Fountain Inn, SC Daughters: Vernie Cooper of Blountville, TN Janie Cooper of Cedar Bluff, VA Step-daughters, Retta West; Barbie Matney and husband Tim of Abingdon, VA Sister, Ruth Cantrell and companion Doug Estes of Wallops Island, VA Brothers: Douglas Cantrell and wife Maxine of Spotsylvania, VA Hassell Cantrell and wife Elizabeth of Winchester, KY 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive her. A graveside service for Goldie Cooper was held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum located in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Her family and friends shared fond memories and stories of their time with her. Goldie’s Friends and family served as pallbearers.
