Grat Whited

Mr. Grat â??Happyâ?? Whited, age 80, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy illness. Â He was born in Russell County and was the son of the late Rev. Andrew â??Budâ??, Sr. and Mintie Dye Whited. Â He was a retired coal miner, formerly employed by Jewell Ridge Coal Corporation and was a member of UMWA Local #1760.Â He was a member of Souls Harbor in Rosedale, Virginia.Â Â In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Newberry and Dorothy Dye; four brothers, Olbert Whited, Sherman Whited, Perry Whited, and Bailey Whited; and daughter in law, Elizabeth Whited. Â Survivors are: Â His Wife of 55 years:Â Peggy Ann Slate Whited Â Two Daughters: Debbie Brewster and husband, Randy of Cucumber, WV Tammy Foley and husband, Tom of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Â Two Sons: Michael Whited and wife, Mindy of Richlands, Virginia Larry Whited and wife, Shelia of Swords Creek, Virginia Â One Brother:Â Andrew Whited, Jr. and wife, Frances of Richlands, Virginia Â Seven Grandchildren:Â Amy Adkins and husband, Bobby; Heather Lester and husband, Jamie; Adam Whited; Lindsay Foley; Lakin Foley; Kyle Anthony; and Sarah Osborne and husband, Doug. Five Great Grandchildren:Â Austin Adkins, Dylan Adkins, Collin Adkins, Braylon Lester, and Ashlyn Lester Â Special Canine Companion:Â Chief and Special Care Giver and Granddaughter:Â Amy Adkins Â Funeral services for Grat Whited will be conducted Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Grady McGlothlin, Rev. Barry Absher, and Rev. Jack Keen officiating.Â Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.Â Pallbearers will be:Â Bobby Adkins, Austin Adkins, Adam Whited, Jamie Lester, Kyle Anthony, and Doug Deskins.Â Honorary Pallbearers will be:Â Rev. Doug Allen, Walt Short, Paul Horn, Rev. Darrell Sutherland, Rev. Shirley Keene, Dr. T.
