Gwendolyn Bell Joyce

Gwendolyn Bell Joyce, age 85, of Richlands, Virginia, formerly from Pikeville, Kentucky, passed away in Pikeville Saturday September 11, 2021. Mrs. Joyce was born in Russell County Virginia near Cleveland on June 5, 1936, the daughter of the late Virginia Madge Campbell Bell Jennelle. She had retired as a clerk at J. C. Penney’s, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Shelbiana, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by; her husband James Hubert Joyce, one daughter, Diana Howell in 1996, one son Brian Lee Joyce in 2009, three brothers, Phillip Jennelle, Michael Bell, and Benson Bell. Gwendolyn is survived by; two sons, Jeffery (Beverly) Joyce of Wellborn, Florida, and Andrew (Sabrina) Joyce of Pikeville, Kentucky, daughter-in-law, Kim Joyce of Shelby Gap, Kentucky, two brothers, David (Diane) Jennelle of Bastian, Virginia, and Julian (Dinah) Jennelle of Richlands, Virginia, and one sister, Kitty (Donnie) Brown of Pounding Mill, Virginia. She was blessed to have ten grandchildren: Amanda (Wes) Hicks, Jason Howell, Samantha Postel, Bailey (Chip) Frasure, Melodie Joyce, Drew (Sarah) Joyce, Chelsea (Brock) Kinney, Elijah Joyce, James Grant Joyce, ad Grace Joyce. Her great grandchildren include Jonah Hicks, Aidan Hicks, Campbell Postel, Emerson Postel, Harper Frasure, Lorelei Frasure, James Frasure, Emery Kinney, Benson Kinney, Emerson Joyce, and Sean Joyce. A host of nieces and nephews that she loved so much. The funeral services for Gwendolyn Joyce will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral in Richlands, Virginia with the minister Jim Hendricks officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Visitation will begin a 11:00 am on Wednesday until time of service.
