Harold Smith

Harold Winford Smith, 67, of Richlands, Virginia passed away Monday, August 27, 2007 at a Richlands, Virginia hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in Buchanan County, Virginia and was the son of the late Paul Smith and Kansas Coxton Smith Keen. He had made his living as a Coal Miner for Jewell Ridge Coal Corporation until his retirement. He was a lifelong resident of the Shortts Gap, Virginia area and was a member of The Cathedral of Praise and Worship Center in Jesus Name in Richlands, Virginia. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his Stepfather, John Keen; a son, Ronnie Winford Smith; granddaughter, Diana Nicole Smith; sister, Ollie Mae Brown; and brother, Dennis Keen. Survivors are Wife, Mable Smith of Richlands, Virginia Daughters Diane Hicks and husband, Brian of Richlands, Virginia Shelia Hibbitts and special friend, Rick Huffman of Cleveland, Virginia Kathy Nipper and husband, Jody of Richlands, Virginia Son Micheal W. Smith of Grundy, Virginia Special Grandsons Anthony and Chris Hurt, of the home Special Granddaughter Ashley Hurt, of the home Sisters Charlene Brown and husband, Andy of Richlands, Virginia Brenda Dotson and husband, Kenneth of Castlewood, Virginia Nancy Lester and husband, Steven of Richlands, Virginia Anna Ruth Lester of Richlands, Virginia Brothers Wayne Keen and wife, Ann of Richlands, Virginia Carlos Keen and wife, Judy of Raven, Virginia Bobby Keen and wife, Kristi of Raven, Virginia Special K-9 Companion, Gizmo Sons-in-law, Eugene Keen of Grundy, Virginia, and Tommy Hibbitts Thirteen Grandchildren, Three Great Grandchildren, one expected great grandchild also survive. Funeral services for Harold Smith will be conducted at 1:00pm Friday, August 31, 2007 at the Cathedral of Praise and Worship Center in Jesus name with the Rev. Mike Justus, Rev. Bobby Stanley and Sister Shelia Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Clayton Casey, Tommy Hibbitts, Eugene Keen, Levi Goins, Kenny Simmons, David Cruey, David Street, and Justin Keen. The family will receive friends at the Church Wednesday and Thursday evenings after 6:00pm.
