Harvey Keene

Harvey Keene, age 81, of New Castle, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at home. He was born on Pea Patch, the son of the late James “Jim” Keen and Rosetta Underwood Keen. He had lived in Troutville, Virginia, most of his life and moved to the New Castle, Virginia, area about five years ago. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Gracie Boggs, Bessie Mullins, Betty Jane Jones, Carmia Horn, and Edna Horn, and four brothers: Robert, Creed, Bobby, and Jarvey Keen. Harvey loved being in the woods with his hunting dogs, hunting coons, bears, squirrels. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Survivors are: Loving wife of 53 years, Judy Keene. Children: Randy Keene, David Abbott, Barbara Huffman (Bruce), Teresa Scarberry (Robbin) Grandchildren: Natasha Abbott, Olivia Wolf, Keiffer Abbott, Autumn Huffman, Summer Huffman, Allyson Scarberry, Daniel Scarberry, Brianna Scarberry, Rebecca Scarberry Also surviving is a host of great-grandchildren, friends, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will follow at Hurst-Scott Chapel Tazewell beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Gilbert Day Family Cemetery on Bearwallow near Jewell Ridge, Virginia.
