Helen Louise Cole

Helen Louise Cole, age 89, of Jewell Ridge, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at her home. Helen was born on November 19, 1935, in Jolo, West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Dave Crockett Kennedy and Mary Alafair Pruitt Kennedy. Helen was a member of the Jesus Church of Bartley in Bartley, West Virginia, where she taught Sunday School and served as the church secretary. She sold Avon and Tupperware and was the top-ranked seller in the area. She was a lifelong resident of the Jewell Ridge, area. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Lee Edward Cole; son, Randall Cole; daughter, Sharon Honaker; grandchildren, Jonathan Roberts, Ryan Honaker and Teresa Lewis; sisters, Lurene Mullins, Lucy Hatfield, Alice Blakley; and brothers, Virgil Kennedy and James Kennedy. Helen is survived by: Her Sons: Ralph Cole and wife, Pam of White Mountain, Virginia Roger Cole and wife, Karen of Bearwallow, Virginia Daughters: Teresa Hess and husband James of Jewell Valley, Virginia Shirley Lewis and husband, Freddie of War, West Virginia Shelia Cox of White Mountain, Virginia Daughter-in-Law, Deborah Cole of Raven, Virginia Grandchildren: Andrea Smith, Carrie Collins, Heather Poore, Joshua Cole, Jessica Vance, Brian Honaker, David Hess, Jennifer Looney, Jeremy Roberts, Kennedy Harris, Kim Lewis, and Tim Cole Sisters: Daisy Kennedy of Jolo, West Virginia Barbara Lopez of Indiana Also surviving are several great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Special thanks to her caregivers: Carrie Matney, Chad Hurley, Ashley Vanover, Tangie Scarberry, and Denisha Mullins. A funeral service for Helen Louise Cole will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the Jesus Church of Bartley in Bartley, West Virginia, with the Rev. Pete Woods, Rev. Charlie Cooper, and Rev. Freddie Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at the Cole Family Cemetery on White Mountain, VA. Relatives and friends will be serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Thursday afternoon at the church. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands is in charge of arrangements.
