Helen J. Reynolds

Helen Slate Reynolds, 89, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Commonwealth Assisted Living of Claypool Hill, Virginia. She was born March 13, 1928, at Swords Creek, Virginia to the late John Dewey and Garnie Taylor Slate. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charlie Edward Reynolds, Jr. and two sons Bobby and Donald. Several siblings, Pauline Pinion, Harvey Slate, Lorene Plaster, Raymond Slate, J.D. Slate, and Earshel Slate preceded her in death. Survivors include four daughters: Brenda Johnson and husband Allen of Richlands, Virginia, Carolyn Whitt and husband Richard of Belfast, Virginia, Wanda White and husband R.A. of Lebanon, Tennessee, and Debbie Crouse and husband Randy of Huntsville, Alabama. Two sons: Jim Reynolds and wife, Pat of Doran, Virginia and Keith Reynolds and wife, Carla of Franklin, Tennessee, thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-two great- grandchildren. Daughter in Law, Anita V. Reynolds of Tazewell, Virginia. Two sisters: JoAnn Carty and husband George of Fanning Springs, Florida, and Joyce Agee and husband Paul of Ashland, Ohio. Two brothers: Dean Slate and wife, Ruby and Steve Slate and wife, Sarah, and many nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved dearly. She was a member of Cedar Bluff Community Church. A celebration of her life will be conducted at 1pm Monday, November 27, 2017 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Robbie Robinson, Travis Crouse, Bryan Whitt, J.D. Reynolds, Charlie Reynolds, Robert White, and Aaron Buchanan. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Staff and Employees of Commonwealth Assisted Living, Paula Slate, and Betsy Ball. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday evening at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
