II Timothy 4: 7 – 8 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” Hester Price McGuire, age 89 of Tazewell, VA died Friday, December 9, 2011 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell, VA. She was born July 1, 1922 and was a daughter of the late Sylvester and Elizabeth Taylor Price. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who loved her family. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, bowling, and cooking for her family. She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry P. McGuire; one sister, Katherine Lester and her husband, Marvin; two brothers, Herman Price and Buster Price. Those left to cherish her memories include two daughters, Kathy Collins and husband, Kelly of Tazewell, VA and Betty Jo Shelton of Roanoke, VA; one sister-in-law, Frances Price of Lynchburg, VA; five grandchildren, Angie Davidson and Jessica Brown and husband, Brad, all of Tazewell, VA, Zachary Collins of Bristol, TN, Kaye Atkins and fiancé, Ellie Johnson and Christy Knott and husband, Jeff, all of Roanoke, VA; eight great-grandchildren, Karrah Davidson, Wesley Brown, Emmalyn Brown, Conner Davidson, Brittany Knott, Felicia Knott, Cody Knott and Olivia Atkins; several special nieces and nephews, other family members and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Hester Price McGuire will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Reverend Dannie Short officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2011.
