Isabell Austin Blankenship

Isabell Blankenship, 79, of Berwind, West Virginia, passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024. Isabell was born in Castlewood, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Jeter Franklin Austin and Virgie Ellen Cook Austin. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and companion. Isabell was known for being fierce yet loving; her family was her number one priority. In her home, she opened a bar called “Isabell’s Place,” to which she was the proprietor for many years. In her older years, she converted the bar into a nursing home because she loved being a caregiver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Blankenship; son-in-law, Bobby Click; brother, Wayne Austin; and two grandchildren, Lynn Deskins Wingo and Jeffery Deskins. She is survived by: Children: James Deskins and his wife, Deloris, of Yadkinville, NC. Jimmie Deskins and his wife, Peggy, of Yadkinville, NC. William Deskins and his wife, Patty, of Yadkinville, NC Carolyn Reavis and her husband, Donnie, of Yadkinville, NC. Brenda Click of North Tazewell, VA. Stepdaughter: Leeann Wingo of Delaware Sisters: Barbara Taylor and her husband, Bill, of Atlanta, GA. Carolyn Dunn and her husband, Richard of Florida. Irene Allison of Memphis, TN. Brothers: Jeter Austin of Lebanon, VA. Bobby Austin and his wife, Terry of Oklahoma. Companion of 45 years Jessie Billips Grandchildren: Paige Rowe and her husband Casey of Tazewell, VA. Brent Deskins of North Carolina. Heather Shelton of North Carolina. Bobby Shelton of Tazewell, VA. Jamie Hutchinson and his wife, Terry, of Yadkinville, NC. Chenoa Wingo of Delaware. Twelve great-grandchildren Two great-great-grandchildren Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Isabell Blankenship will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 18th, 2024, at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Tazewell, VA, with Rev. Ralph Brewster officiating. Interment will follow at the Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
