Jack Miller

Mr. Jack Miller, age 73 of Road Ridge in the Raven area of Virginia, went to be with the Lord, Friday, December 7, 2007 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Russell County, Virginia and was the son of the late Hobert McKinley and Catherine Fuller Miller, both were former Russell County natives. Jack coached Little League and Senior League Softball and baseball and was an avid player himself well into his 50's. He was a retired brick mason and in his spare time he loved to fish and take his grandchildren on hikes. He was a member of the Road Ridge Assembly of God Church and spent many hours singing in the choir. Jack was a true family man, a devoted husband and father, his family was his passion for life and through them he will live on. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jack Miller, Jr., his first wife, Isabell Stoots Miller ; sisters, Gertrude Peck, Myrtle Stump; brothers James (Bud) and Russell Miller. Those who remain to carry on his spirit are: His loving wife of 46 years, Betty Jane Baldwin Miller of Road Ridge, VA Daughters: Becky Harris and husband Jeff of Marion, VA Jackie Thompson and husband Chuck of Raven, VA Alice Crigger and husband Claude of Keen Mountain, VA Son, Russell Miller and wife Lisa of Snowville, VA Sisters: Zora Compton of Honaker, VA Gedie Wood of Bluefield, West VA Pauline Marshall of Grundy, VA Flora Helton of Vansant, VA Louise Thompson of Honaker, VA Grandchildren: Jacob, Hunter and Jairus Miller, Cala Slone, Joshua Crigger, Alisha and Kristin Smith, Ryan, Scotty, Aaron, Stacy, Jocilyn and Kylee Thompson, Jessie, Cory and Kim Harris. Several nieces and nephews along with a special buddy, Susie Ball also survives him. Special appreciation is expressed to Carolyn Thornsbery and the total Home Care Hospice. Funeral services for Jack Miller will be conducted at 1:00 pm on December 10, 2007 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Jerry Welch, Rev. Leonard Meadows and Rev. Claude Crigger officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Russell Miller, Claude Crigger, Joshua Crigger, Chuck Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Jacob Miller, Jarius Miller, Scott Slone, Jeff Harris, Scotty Thompson, Aaron Thompson, and Stacy Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Granddaughters, Cala Slone, Alisha Smith, Kristin Smith and Hunter Miller.
