Jacqueline Boyd “Jackie,” “Granny” Webb, age 95, moved from her earthly home to her heavenly home on September 2, 2026-exactly 14 years after her husband’s death. She died peacefully at the home of her daughter after a brief illness. Jackie was born in Raven, Virginia on May 28, 1931 to Bert L. and Pansy Bales Boyd. She lived in the Raven/Doran area for her entire life except for a brief time in Chicago, IL. She was homesick, so she and Grat moved back home. Jackie always said she had been blessed to live such a long life, but she also blessed all who knew her. Jackie was a lifelong member of the Clearview United Methodist Church, which she served faithfully. She held many positions there and was a member of the building committee when the church was built. She served as secretary and president of the United Methodist Women where she had over 62 years of perfect attendance, including when she had breast cancer surgery. The unit moved their meeting so she could attend. In 1988, at a district meeting in Pearingsburg, VA, Jackie was presented with a certificate for having the oldest dated “Response Magazine,” a national publication of the United Methodist Women. She and her close friend, Peggy Plaster, started the “Easter Egg” making project and one year, the group made over 10,000 Easter eggs.Jackie served as president of the Raven Elemementery School PTA and supported all of their projects. She was an auxillary member of the Woodmen of The World and Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 in Richlands. She supported Grat in all of his projects- Raven Theater Restoration, Critterville Playground construction, Habitat for Humanity Tazewell County, Raven Volunteer Fire Departmet, the Boyd and Webb reunions, the Raven reunion, and many more. Significantly, however, Jackie babysat children for over 40 years. “Granny,” as she was so lovingly called, babysat two generations of children! The lives she touched and the impact she made in childrens’ lives will, hopefully, have a lasting impact for generations. It would be remiss to not mention the friends she held closest to her heart: Ann Cantrell, Peggy Plaster, Alice Pyott, Lucy Smith, Annie Bingham, Susie Addison, Sharon Griffith, Peggy Hess, Pearlie Ramsey (deceased), and all of the members of Clearview United Methodist Church. Jackie loved The Lord, her church, her family, her friends and her community. She told everyone that she had been blessed; but she was sucha blessing to everyone she met. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21-23 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gratten Webb; infant son, Gratten Webb, Jr.; daughter, Betsy Webb Williams; brothers Hershel Boyd, Sidney Boyd; sister, Rebecca Boyd Fletcher. Jackie is survived by: Daughter, Dr. Debbie Wallace and husband, Tim Grandson, Wesley Wallace and wife, Dr. Elizabeth Mitchell Wallace Granddaughter, Jillian Wallace McCoy and husband, Jessee Her precious great-granddaughter, Paxton Grace McCoy, whom she always referred to as “baby doll” Brothers: Kenneth “Mouse” Boyd and wife Marian Tommy Boyd Son-In-Law, Tommy Williams Step-Granddaughter, Leslie A. Williams Funeral services for Jacqueline Boyd Webb will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, vA, with the Rev. Annette Warren officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
