James Edward "Jim Ed" Alicie

James Edward “Jim Ed” Alicie, age 86, of Cedar Bluff, VA died Friday, August 1, 2014 at his home. He was born at Cedar Bluff, VA and was a son of the late Patsy and Queen Victoria Whitt Alicie. Mr. Alicie was a retired coal miner, having worked for over forty-seven years with CONSOL Coal Company and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local #2322 at Amonate, VA. Mr. Alicie was a United States Army Veteran of World War II and was a member of the Veteran of Foreign War Post #9696 in Bluefield, VA. Jim Ed was a member of the Cedar Bluff Masonic Lodge #260 AF & AM and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary White and Filimino Alicie; seven brothers, Marvin, Joe, Milburn, Charlie, Clarence “Preacher”, Archie, and Carl Alicie; daughter-in-law, Barbara Alicie; son-in-law, Gary Shrader; one great-granddaughter, Emma Damron. Survivors: Loving wife of 63 years, Shelba J. Williamson Alicie Two Daughters: Karen Gale Shrader of Cedar Bluff, VA Cristina Allison of Cedar Bluff, VA Four Sons: Gary Alicie of Cedar Bluff, VA James Timothy Alicie and wife, Liz of Delaware, OH Tracey Alicie and wife, Hope of Cedar Bluff, VA Stacey Alicie and wife, Alisha of Cedar Bluff, VA One Sister, Ida Bowling of Tampa, FL Sister-in-Law, Goldie Alicie of Cedar Bluff, VA Special Nephew, Kenny Alicie and wife, Trudale of Pounding Mill, VA Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great-granddaughter along with a host of family and friends. Funeral services for James Edward “Jim Ed” Alicie will be conducted on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Rev. Chris White officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Members of VFW Post #9696 will conduct military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be: Gary Alicie, Tracey Alicie, Stacey Alicie, Tim Alicie, Adam Shrader and Josh Shrader. Honorary pallbearers will be: Kenny Alicie, Eddie Shawver, Corey Alicie, and Jarred Alicie. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 pm on Monday evening. A masonic service will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Monday evening by the Cedar Bluff Masonic Lodge #260 AF & AM.
