James Edward "Hammer" Brewster

With deepest regret and sorrow the family of James Edward “Hammer” Brewster lets it be known that James passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. James was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on June 14, 1979 and was the son of Gloria Dickenson Brewster of Bishop, Virginia and the late Daniel Brewster. He was a graduate of Tazewell High School, worked at the County landfill off and on, and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Keystone Mining. Not only did he care for his family and home, he also gave to the community, he worked as the Chief of the D.A.D. Fire Department in Bandy and he never knew a stranger, everyone he met became his family. He was always smiling and was well known for being a jokester mainly because he liked to make people laugh and not take life so seriously. James loved spending time with his sons, and playing Call of Duty with them. He reveled in working on cars and motorcycles, 4-wheeling and mudding. He served as vice president for B.A.C.A. (Bikers Against Child Abuse) organization. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Baby Lee Brewster; daughter, Kelly Brewster; half-sister, Rhonda Dixon; and his father-in-law, Garner Bandy. Those that remain to carry on his loving and giving spirit are his: Loving wife, Brandi Bandy Brewster of Bandy, VA Sons: Triston Brewster and wife, Brittany of Bandy, VA Bentley James Brewster of the home Brother, Keith Brewster and wife, Priscilla of Dry Fork, VA Mother, Gloria Brewster of Bishop, VA Granny & Grandad, Shirley and A.R. Beavers Aunt, Lucy Trivett Uncle, Sam Dickenson Mother-in-law, Diana Bandy Cousins, Kim Whitt and companion, Jamie Howell and Fran Sexton and husband, Mark. Niece and nephews, Haley Brewster, Daniel Brewster and McKenzie Brewster. There are so many special friends that it would take several pages to list them all. In lieu of flowers, the family request to please honor him with donations to either the D.A.D. Fire Department, 716 Johnson Branch Rd., Bandy, VA 24602 or to the B.A.C.A. Organization P.O. Box 1463, Hopewell, VA. 23860. A Celebration of Life service will be held in his honor at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell, Virginia on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 6:00 pm with the Rev. Lawrence Hayes and Rev. Brandon Hay officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 4:00 pm on Monday evening until time of the service.
