James "Jamie" Edward Mills Jr.

With deepest regret and sorrow, the family of James “Jamie" Edward Mills, Jr., lets it be known that Jamie passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. at the age of 28 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was formerly of McDowell County, West Virginia. Jamie was born in South Hill, Virginia, on May 4, 1995, and was the son of Lovesa Moran and William “Bill” Adams of Mohawk, Tennessee. Jamie attended school in McDowell County, WV, graduating from Riverview High School. He played football all four years, which started his love for the game. Jamie was an avid Florida Gator and New Orleans Saints fan. Jamie proudly served in the United States Army, serving most of his time in Destin, Florida. His proudest moment came with the birth of his baby boy, Pierce. Nothing made him happier than being with his son; he truly was the love of his life. Jamie made many friends over the years and across many states. He had a heart as huge as Texas and a smile that would light up any room. Jamie was preceded in death by his pops, Wayne Moran. Those that remain to carry on his spirit are his: Son, Pierce McDowell of Crestview, FL Parents, Lovesa Moran and William “Bill” Adams of Mohawk, TN Sister Moranda McReynolds of Princeton, WV Niece, Haven McReynolds of Princeton, WV Mamaw, Ruby Moran of Mohawk, TN Mamaw, Shirley Adams of Welaka, FL Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that were his family by heart are left to cherish his memory. “Loving you Always and Forgetting you Never.” The funeral service for Jamie Mills will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church in Canebrake, WV, with the Rev. Darrell Long officiating. Interment will follow at the Hartwell Cemetery in Canebrake, WV. The pallbearers will be Tyler Brewer, Jacob Muncy, Dakota Collins, Kwame Gravey, Demetrius Duff, and Brandon Thomas. A visitation will be held on Friday evening, July 7, at the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church from 5-8 pm. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Casey-Shortt VFW Post 9640 at the Hartwell Cemetery.
