James "Jimmy" Robert Armes

James “Jimmy” Robert Armes, age 73, of the Baptist Valley section of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his home. Jimmy was born on January 4, 1952, in Tazewell County, Virginia, and was the son of Pauline Hampton Armes and the late Wade Armes. He was a graduate of Richlands High School and was an engineering machinist. He was a lifelong resident. Jimmy lived a life overflowing with joy and a tireless dedication to all he pursued. His infectious laughter and bright smile were a constant source of happiness for everyone around him. He approached each day with unwavering optimism and a remarkable work ethic. He would go above and beyond for everyone, adding laughter and humor along the way. Whether he was tending to his chicken babies and his vegetable garden or solving complex mechanical problems, he poured his heart and soul into every endeavor. His generosity and kindness equally matched his commitment to excellence and fun. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement and advice. He found immense joy in making others happy and leaving a positive impact on the world around him. Jimmy's legacy will be remembered through the countless lives he touched with his warmth, humor, and unwavering spirit. In addition to his mother, he is survived by: His Daughter: Stephanie Darlene Shimko of Ann Arbor, Michigan Sister: Nancy Alsbrook of Baptist Valley, Virginia Brother, Jack Armes and his wife, Brenda of Abingdon, VA His Companion, Jane Stinson Children of the Heart: Margaret and Nathan Hays Granddaughters of the Heart: Paige and Leia Hays Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, and other family and friends, canine companions, Rosebud and Sally. Funeral services for James “Jimmy” Robert Armes will be conducted at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. The Armes family will receive friends from 12-2 pm at the funeral home.
