James Edward Lockhart age 75, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia was with his loved ones at home as he closed his eyes one final time on this earth, on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. James was born December 12, 1945 in Richlands, Virginia to the late Edward Lockhart and Trula Jackson Lockhart. He had served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict and worked many years as a heavy equipment operator before retiring. He had attended the Rosedale Baptist Church and his request was as an alternative of flowers please make donations to the Rosedale Baptist Church “Go Team”, 352 Oakvale Ave., Rosedale, Virginia 24280. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and her husband, Deanna and Norman Jackson; and his brother, John Lockhart. Those who remain to carry on his loving spirit are his, Loving wife, Debra Kay Lockhart of Cedar Bluff, VA Daughter, Malissa Lockhart Gularson of Davidson, NC Stepsons: Adam Daniel Cole and Joshua David Cole both of Cedar Bluff, VA Sisters: Linda Shortt and husband, Don of Belfast, VA Gincy Stezar of Olney, MD Angela Boyda and husband, Tom of Abingdon, VA Brother, Michael Lockhart and wife, Dana of Cedar Bluff, VA Grandchildren, Kaitlin Noelle Gularson of Charlotte, NC; Sarah Abigail “Abby” Gularson of Knoxville, TN; James David Gularson of Davidson, NC. Several nieces, nephews and host of friends and family also survive. The funeral service for James E. Lockhart will be conducted at 3:00pm on Friday, March 26, 2021 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, with Pastor Jeff Kinder, Larry Burton and Stephen Musick officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Jerry Lowe, Adam Cole, James Gularson, Zachary Boyda, Matthew Boyda, Logan Lockhart, Patrick Jackson, Christopher Jackson, Brandon Jackson, Jordan Jackson, Alex Stezar, Greg Shortt, Will Lockhart. Honorary Pallbearers are, Dr. Trey Robertson, III., Church Family and the Men’s Class at Rosedale Baptist Church. The family will begin receiving friends at 2:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home until time of service. Military rites will be conducted by the Casey-Shortt VFW Post#9640.
