Joe Miller,

Joe Allen Miller, Sr. age 79 of Rock Hill, SC, formerly of Dayton, OH and Hartwell, WV passed away Friday, May 21, 2010 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He was born February 12, 1931 at Husk, NC and was a son of the late Wells Russell Miller and Rebecca Clyde Adams Miller. Mr. Miller was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, SC. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, and was a man who enjoyed gardening. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend; he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Irene Mangus, and Gussie Doile Tipton; four brothers, Larry Jack Miller, William Russell Miller, Eugene Massey Miller, and Howard Lester Miller. Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife, Wilma K. Whitt Miller; two daughters, Beverly Brumit and husband, Floyd of Dayton, OH, and Zena Barber of Rock Hill, SC; three sons, Joe Allen Miller, Jr. and wife, Linda of Johnson City, TN, Craig Miller and Karna, and Russell Miller and wife, Cathy all of Dayton, OH; two sisters, Susie Downey of North Tazewell, VA, and Georgia Ruth Lawson of Abingdon, VA; two brothers, Robert Scott Miller and wife, Mary “Tiny” of Kershaw, SC and Lonnie Jerry Miller and wife, Christine of Pulaski, VA; three sisters-in-law, Karen Miller of Nashville, TN, Frankie Miller of Pulaski, VA, and Lenora Miller of Bandy, VA; ten grandchildren, Katelyn Brumit, Shawn Miller, Daniel Miller, Victoria Reaves, Amy Law, Kyle Law, Shannon Creagan, Sean Creagan, Russell “R.J.” Miller, and Douglas Miller; two great-grandchildren, Brody Miller, and Austin Miller; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Funeral services for Joe Allen Miller, Sr. will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Rev. Darrell Long and Jerry Colwell officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 9 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2010. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by members of the Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136 in Tazewell, VA.
