John Patton Craft, Jr., age 69, of Richlands, Virginia, peacefully cast his final line and drew his last breath on Saturday, July 18, 2026. He passed away surrounded by care at a Johnson City, Tennessee, hospital, following a lengthy illness faced with quiet grace. Born and raised in the hills of Wise, Virginia, John was the cherished son of the late John Patton Craft, Sr., and Cathleen Houston Craft. He carried the values of his hometown through his graduation from Wise High School and into his college years. For most of his life, John brought connection, trust, and a warm smile to his career as a dedicated automotive sales consultant. John was a man who found his peace in the quiet rhythms of nature and the thrilling roar of the stands. An outdoorsman at heart, he was happiest with a fishing rod in hand, waiting on the water. His passion burned brightly for the speed of the racetrack and the camaraderie of game days, living life as a true, die-hard Alabama fan. Above all, John was defined by a profoundly kind heart. He lived by a simple creed: to always go above and beyond for anyone in need. In the quiet peace of eternity, John is reunited with his parents and his beloved stepdaughter, Natalie J. McCall. His gentle spirit lives on in the hearts of his family: His Devoted Wife: Deborah J. Hollenhead Craft of Richlands, VA, his partner in life's journey. His Step-Sons: Jacob White (Danielle) of Amelia, VA, and McKinley White (Hannah), currently residing in Germany. His Sisters: O’Donna Jennings and Pam Evans of Virginia. His Brothers: Michael Craft (Gloria), Adam Craft, and O’Brien Craft (Angie), all of Wise, VA. His Legacy of Joy: Step-grandchildren Knox Knighten, Chloe White, Claire White, and Charlotte White; and step-great-grandchildren Addie Knighten and Ottie Knighten. He also leaves behind a rich tapestry of nieces and nephews and a deeply valued host of friends who will forever miss his warmth. An evening of reflection and a Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 6:30 PM at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia. Keenan Bowman will officiate the service, guiding loved ones through a tribute to a remarkable man. The family invites friends to share memories and comfort one another during a visitation period beginning at 5:30 PM until the hour of the service.
