John Lewis Davis, age 69, of Raven, VA, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN. John was born in Raven, VA and was the son of the late Charlie Hubbard and Grace Virginia Phillips Davis. He was a coal miner and was a lifelong resident of the Raven area. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Davis; two sisters, Ruby Browning, Betty Tabor; two brothers, Ted Davis, Curtis Davis; and an infant sister. He is survived by: Wife, Brenda Webb Davis One Daughter, Deanna Harman of Raven, VA Two Sons: Jonathan Toby Davis and wife, Greta of Doran, VA Charley Chuck Davis of Raven, VA One Sister, Dot Griffith of Bluefield, WV Four Brothers: Carl Jr. Davis and wife, Sylvia of Doran, VA Raymond Davis and wife, Jessie of Raven, VA Peery Davis and wife, Carol of Swords Creek, VA Jerry Davis and wife, Faye of Cedar Bluff, VA Brother-in-Law, Glen Tabor of Bluefield, WV Six Grandchildren: Cody Harman, Logan Harman, Ariel Endicott, Isaac Young, Lucca Potter and Emma Davis Two Great Grandchildren, Avery Lester and Ava Farley Special Children in his Life: Michael Lester, Kevin Farley, Ava Farley and Tracy Farley Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. Funeral services for John Lewis Davis will be conducted Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Jim Richardson and Rev. Billy Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be: Kevin Farley, Cody Harman, Logan Harman, Jeff Davis, Barry White and Sam Jewell. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jim Elswick, Tom Taylor, Arnold Wells, Lee Messick, Mike Brown, Bobby Grimmet, Wayne French, James Davis, Jack Davis, Mike Davis, Ken Davis, and Michael Lester. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
