“…Well done, thou good and faithful servant…enter thou into the joy of thy lord (Matthew 25: 21.)” John Paul Roberts, age 47, of Richlands, Virginia, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 29, 2025, following a lengthy illness. Though our hearts are heavy and our sorrow is deep, our hope is sure, knowing he now rests in the eternal peace and joy of Heaven. John Paul was born on December 02, 1977, in Richlands, Virginia, to Anna Sharon Horton Roberts and the late Danny Lee Roberts. He was a 1995 graduate of the Richlands Christian Academy and also attended Southwest Virginia Community College. He was a life-long member of Westside Holiness Church in Raven, Virginia. He leaves behind his loving wife of 22 years, Valerie Renae Ward Roberts, and his three sons, Micah Ryan Roberts, John Rylan D. Roberts, and Alexander Raidan Roberts, all of the home. He is also survived by his precious mother, Anna Sharon Horton Roberts, and his beloved sister, Amy Lea Roberts. Grat and Chorilda Horton; paternal grandparents, John Willard and Dorothy Roberts, and his father-in-law, Rev. Dale Ward John Paul lived a life marked by love – love for his family and love for his Savior. He was a devoted husband, a caring father, a loyal son, a beloved brother, and a faithful friend. His presence brought life and humor wherever he went. John Paul possessed a rare gift of making people feel safe in his presence, as if just being near him somehow reminded you of God’s grace. Whether it was a simple word of encouragement, a strong hug, or a sincere, whispered prayer, John Paul had a way of showing up when you needed it most. John Paul was a rock to his family. He loved his wife, Valerie, with a quiet and fierce devotion that never wavered. They shared not only twenty-two years of marriage but a deep friendship rooted in faith. His boys, Micah, Rylan, and Alex, were his pride and joy. He instructed them to love God and to always stand for what is right and true. Beyond his home and family, John Paul loved his church, his community, and his friends. He leaves behind a legacy, not only in the family he cherished, but in the countless lives he touched. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled; yet, his presence will always remain in the prayers he once prayed and in the quiet strength he passed on. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Legacy Hospice and Dr. Kenneth McVey for the exceptional love and care they provided during this time. Funeral services for John Paul Roberts will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 1:00pm, at Westside Holiness Church with Rev. Travis Hackworth, Rev. Benjamin Roberts, and Rev. Jonathan Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Shawn Horton, Simeon Hackworth, Seth Hackworth, Keith Hackworth, Wayne Boggs, Brandon McGlothlin, T.J. Pruitt, Doug Joseph, J.D. Horton, Brennan Brown, Caleb Ratliff, Lucas Vaughn, and Josh Whitt. Honorary Pallbearers will include Rev. Nathan Morris, Rev. Jerry Matney, Rev. Benny Sutherland, Rev. Andrew Blevins, Rev.
