Juanita Britts

Juanita Meade Britts, age 84, of Richlands, Virginia went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at her home surrounded by friends and family. She was the daughter of the late Robert P. and Mary Moore Meade. Juanita was an avid gardener, cook, wonderful homemaker, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A two-time breast cancer survivor she was always strong and positive. She loved reading the Bible and was a prayer warrior. Juanita was a faithful member of the Richlands Presbyterian Church, and member of the Presbyterian Women. Over the years, she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and was active in the PTA and Homemaker’s Club as well as other civic organizations. She was a graduate of Tazewell High School and attended the College of William and Mary. She then taught in Tazewell County schools before starting her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Britts, Sr.; two sisters, Beatrice Lyons and Geneva Johnson; and four brothers, Larry Meade, Forest Meade, Paul Meade and Lawrence Meade. She is survived by: One Son, Jack W. Britts, Jr. and wife, Nancy of Greensboro, North Carolina One Daughter, Catherine Harris and husband, Dan of Richlands, Virginia Two Sisters: Jeanette Little and husband, Bill of Chilhowie, Virginia Margaret Wyatt and husband, Leo of Abingdon, Virginia Sister-in-Law, Mary Ferrell of Pocahontas, Virginia Five Grandchildren: Jack Weston Britts, Laura Danielle Harris, Gregory Harris, Adam Harris Amanda Jones and husband, Jason Several nieces and nephews also survive along with five special caregivers, Carol Horne, Kathy Hubbard, Sherry Rasnake, Pam Robbins and Jannie Simmons. Funeral services for Juanita Meade Britts will be conducted Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Dennis Hoffman officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia. The family will accept friends and family from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Sunday afternoon at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
