Juanita D Cole

Juanita Dotson Cole was born on Compton Mountain in Buchanan County, Virginia on December 28, 1939, and joined the Lord on March 17, 2024. Juanita was a pillar of the community of Whitewood, Virginia. She was the daughter of John Dotson and Alice Mullins Dotson of Whitewood, Virginia. Juanita’s love of children led her into a lifetime of foster care service with the Buchanan County Department of Social Services. Juanita enjoyed caring for children very much, as well as running a community convenience store working with the public for over 40 years. Juanita loved animals, sewing, flowers, plants, traveling, riding motorcycles with LR, cooking, entertaining, and caring deeply for her family and friends. Juanita was very active in her adored community, as she attended Flatwoods Church of Christ of Compton Mountain where she was a member since December 6, 1970. Juanita also attended Senior Citizens at Whitewood. Juanita was a proud graduate of Whitewood High School where she was voted as the best-dressed and most lovable in her class. Juanita was proceeded in death by her parents John Dotson and Alice Mullins Dotson, her brothers John Dotson and Troy Dotson (as well as their wives, not only her sisters-in-law but dear friends) Brenda Fain Dotson and Besty Horne Dotson, and a host of other beloved family members and friends. Juanita is survived by her loving husband Lowell Roger Cole, sister Deborah Charlene Smith, children Donna Denise Cole and Carrie Lynn Gault, Valerie Kim Cole Pursley and Jimmy Alan Pursley, Lowell Roger Cole II and Amanda Jo Ratliff Cole, Jonathan Alan Cole, Kelly Ray Johnson, Anne-Marie Johnson, Bryan, Bailey, and Bryley Johnson and many other cherished family members and friends. A special thank you to all of the staff of Ballad Hospice House for taking such wonderful care of Juanita and her family during this time. Funeral services for Juanita Dotson Cole will be conducted Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 1 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Dr. Arthur Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at the Mullins and Davis Cemetery near Whitewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Bradley Lawson, Clyde Wimmer, D.R. Goss, Roger Sanders, Jeff Cooper, Nick Cook, Jared Cantrell, Matt Rife, Brian Keen, Richard Underwood and Ronnie Taylor. Friends may visit with the family from 12 pm until 1 pm on Wednesday before the funeral.
