Juanita Carroll Price

Juanita Carroll Price, age 92, of the Doran Bottom section of Raven, Virginia, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at her home. She was born in Wolfpit, KY and was the daughter of the late George and Lula Horn Carroll. She had made her home in the Raven area most of her life and was a former cafeteria manager for Tazewell County Public School System. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Richlands, Virginia where she was involved in teaching Sunday School, a member of the choir, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also the founder of the Lunch Program at Raven Elementary School. She was very adventurous and enjoyed traveling with her granddaughters, Cynthia Shelton and Chanel Parris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carmel Meredith “C.M.” Price; one daughter, Anita Price Butcher; three sons, Carroll Eugene Price, Claude Marvin Price, Carmel Meredith Price; and three grandchildren, Don Butcher, Kimberley Sue Hale, Cecilia Renee Thompson; two sisters and eight brothers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors are: Three Daughters: Claity Massey and husband, Charles of Buffalo, NY Clara Thompson and husband, Cecil of Doran, VA Sherry Sanders and husband, Terry of Doran, VA with whom she lived with the last several years Six Grandchildren, Nine Great Grandchildren, and Six Great-Great Grandchildren also survive. Special Caregivers: Staff and Nurses of Legacy Hospice- Johnetta, Lindsey, and Lisa and Tammy Pruitt A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 7pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with Dr. Charles Massey officiating. Interment will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 11am at the O.A. Estep Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeview, WV. Pallbearers will be: Justin Shelton, Josh Shelton, Jordan Shelton, David Price, and Sam Sanders. Honorary Pallbearers will be the “Lunch Bunch”: Jane Martin, Lois Jean Shepherd, Kathleen Nolley, Betty Cook, and Betty Rasnick.
