Junie Carol Burke

Ms. Junie Carol Burke, age 75, of Cucumber, West Virginia, passed away at her home on Saturday, August 16, 2025, following a lengthy illness. Junie was born in Big Creek, West Virginia, on November 10, 1949, and was the daughter of the late Raymond Brewer and Sylvia Hicks Brewer Leak. She was so proud of her home that she was always decorating and keeping her home inviting. Junie worked for many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant and was a lifetime caregiver to all she knew. She dedicated her life to helping others, and whenever she could, she went above and beyond in everything she did. Junie was the best mom and grandmother; she was the heart and soul of her family, bringing them delight and happiness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Donald Burke, her son, Robbie Mitchell, her sister, Sharon Bowling, and her brother, Gary Leak. Those who carry on her memory are her, Daughters: Angel Rasnake and her husband, Marshall of Cucumber, WV Michelle Addair and husband, Wilbert, Jr., of Welch, WV Monica Mitchell and her companion, Ricky Barton of Squire, WV Step-daughter, Ashley Dunford, and her husband, Jonathan of Newhall, WV Daughter-in-law, Mary Rowe Sisters: Bonnie Brewer and Mary Lou Brewer Brothers: Jessie Leak and his wife, Darlene, of Bishop, WV George Brewer and his companion, Keith of Abingdon, VA Raymond Brewer, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Lewisburg, WV Johnny Webb and his wife, Gwen of Newhall, WV Brother of the heart, Dean Kennedy First husband, father of her children, and friend, Byrd Mitchell Grandchildren, David Mitchell, Frankie Rasnake, Austin Dillon, Blake Barton, Joseph Cook, Skyler Mitchell, Brandon Barton, Chyann Justice, Johnathan Dunford, Jr., Ashley Dunford, McKenzie Dunford, Lindsey Dunford, Keaton Mitchell, and Khloe Mitchell. Great-grandchild, Malakaie Dillon Junie Burke’s funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the Livelystone Church in Squire, West Virginia. Interment will follow at the Hartwell Cemetery in Hartwell, West Virginia. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. A visitation will be on Saturday evening from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Livelystone Church.
