Karen Kay Thacker Roberts, age 57, of Jewell Ridge, Virginia entered into her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at her home following a lengthy illness. Karen was born on May 21, 1962 in Grundy, Virginia to the late Donald and Geraldine Chaney Thacker. She had worked for Dr. Zaven Jabourian as an office clerk for over a decade. She was a loving, beautiful and devoted wife of 31 years and a selfless, wonderful, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was of the holiness faith and attended House of Grace in Jewell Ridge, VA. She loved the beach, camping, animals, seeing and most of all: Jesus, her family and her friends. She made the world a better place just by being in it, was so strong in her faith and had a smile that could light up a room and a heart that showed love and compassion. She is so loved and will be missed more than words could ever express In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Proffitt Yates. Those left to cherish her memory include: Her husband of 31 years, Doug Roberts Daughters: Keisha Nicole Christian and husband, Dove of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Donna Kay Sparks and husband, Jeffery of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Sons: Joseph Lee Vanover and fiancé, Katelyn Street of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Shane Douglas Roberts and girlfriend, Madison Cook of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Sister, Glenda Baldwin of Vansant, Virginia Brothers Donald Dean Thacker of Hiddenite, North Carolina Eddie Thacker of Richlands, Virginia Roger Thacker of South Williamson, Kentucky Billy Thacker of Vansant, Virginia Grandchildren: Elaina Christian, Avinlee Christian, Gage Vanover, Kaylee Sparks, and Kyra Sparks. Funeral services for Karen Kay Thacker Roberts will be conducted at 1 PM on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with Brother Tim Lester officiating. Interment will follow at the Sawyers Family Cemetery on Smith Ridge near Jewell Ridge, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Travis Roberts, Frank Compton, Jr., Shawn Roberts, Jesse Roberts, David Roberts, John Hess, Brad Matney, Jody Sweeney, R.J. Hess, and Tim Nickels. Children will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening after 6 PM.
