Kenneth Simmons

Mr. Kenneth Albert Simmons, Sr., age 71, of the Paintlick section of Pounding Mill, Virginia died Wednesday, October 22nd, 2003 at a Richlands, Virginia hospital. He was born in Red Ash, Virginia and was a son of the late Belle Franklin and Mary Jane Hill Simmons, both Tazewell County natives. He was a life long resident of the Paintlick area and was a retired employee of S & S Corp. at Claypool Hill, Virginia. He was a World War II U. S. Army Veteran, a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Richlands, and a member of the Cedar Bluff Lodge #260 A.F. & A.M. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Keith Simmons and a brother, Andy Elmer Simmons. Survivors are: His Wife, Mrs. Maria Wedle Simmons Daughter, Mrs. Freddie (Mary Judy) Boyd of Paintlick, Virginia Sons: Mr. Kenneth A. Simmons, Jr. and wife, Tammie of Paintlick, Virginia Mr. Gary J. Simmons and wife, Mary of Mooresville, North Carolina Four Sisters: Mrs. Truman (Emily) Perkins of Richlands, Virginia Mrs. Ella Ward of Paintlick, Virginia Mrs. Margaret Simmons Sabato of Paintlick, Virginia and Norfolk, Virginia Mrs. Carol Simmons Smith of Virginia Beach, Virginia One Brother, Mr. George William Simmons of Paintlick, Virignia Grandchildren: Melani Boyd, Kenneth A. Simmons, III, Jessica Ann Simmons, April Dawn Patterson, Heather Kaitlynn Simmons, Michael Keith Simmons, Jr., and Angela Simmons. Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth Albert Simmons, Sr. will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Father Tom Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Charlie Simmons, Kenneth A. Simmons, III, Michael Simmons, Jr., David Simmons, Morris Perkins, Bill Simmons, Freeman, Smith, and Joe Keith Smith. Honorary pallbearers: George William Simmons, Bernard Simmons, Jack Simmons, Dennis Simmons, and Danny Proffitt. Members of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 and Disabled American Veterans Tazewell Co. Chapter #31 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands after 7:00 p.m. Thursday. A Christian Wake service only will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands is in charge of arrangements.
