Larry Richardson

Larry James Richardson, age 66 of North Tazewell, VA formerly of the Mill Creek section of Raven, VA died peacefully at his home, Thursday, July 5, 2012, with his loving wife and son at his side. He was born December 4, 1945 at Richlands, VA and was a son of the late Sherman and Hazel Newberry Richardson. He was a retired coal miner, retiring from VP8 Island Creek with twenty-two years of service. He was a member of the UMWA Local # 2232 at Oakwood, VA. Larry was a fun loving man who enjoyed NASCAR and Football; he is well known for taking his grandson, Bryson on trips up and down the road on a riding lawn mower. He was a “special” Santa to many children after his retirement. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Mickey Kimberlin; one grandson, C.J. Richardson; two brothers, Laudy and Leonard Richardson; three sisters – in – law, Rebecca Ball, Shirley Shrader and Billie Martin. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of thirty years, Linda Crouse Richardson; one son, Charlie Richardson and wife, Shonda of Richlands, VA; four grandchildren, Brittney Richardson, Cassidy Richardson, Breonna Richardson and Bryson Richardson; two sisters, Evangeline Blake and husband, Robert of Chesapeake, VA and Frances Dye and husband, Earl, who was a special brother – in – law to Larry, of Cedar Bluff, VA; two brothers, Bobby Richardson and wife, Gertrude of Raven, VA and Eugene Richardson and wife, Violet of Stilesville, IN; four sisters – in – law, Shelby Richardson of Clayton, IN, Mae Richardson of Honaker, VA, Joyce Dunn and husband, Kenny of Highpoint, NC and Alice Neel and husband, Don, who was a special brother – in – law to Larry, of North Tazewell, VA; two special brothers – in – law, Joe Ball and Howard Shrader, both of North Tazewell, VA; one step-son, Rick Kimberlin and wife, Debbie of Fayetteville, NC; one step-daughter, Kathy Noble and husband, Robert of Columbus, IN; three step – grandsons, Ricky Kimberlin, Jr., Jesse Kimberlin, and Clinton Noble; one step – granddaughter, Stacey Findley and husband, Jake; two step – great – grandchildren, Walter and Palek Findley; special friend, who Larry loved like a granddaughter, Melanie Lee and husband, Kevin of North Tazewell, VA; his special friends and caregivers at Legacy Hospice, who made his transition comfortable and peaceful; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends. Funeral services for Larry James Richardson will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Hurst – Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Rev. Kenny Fields and the Rev. Charlie Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers will be John Davis, Anthony Frazier, Kenny Dunn, Jr., Kevin Lee, David Ball and Keith Shrader. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryson Richardson, Lonnie Richardson, James Dye, C.J. Beavers, Nicholas Dye, Chandler Perkins and Jacob Richardson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 9 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012.
