Lawrence Edward “Bunny” Davis, age 70, of Cedar Bluff, VA passed away at his home on Sunday, October 25, 2015 following a brief illness. He was born in Richlands, VA and was the son of the late Lawrence Andrew and Mearl Lawson Davis, former Tazewell County natives. He was a graduate of Richlands High School, Class of 1964 and then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Post#59, The Vietnam Veterans of America and the Military Police 25th Division of the U.S. Army. He was a former employee of Carter Machinery at both the Oakwood and Bluefield, Virginia offices for over 30 years. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, brother-in-law and grandfather. His joy in life was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. He had attended the Cedar Bluff Community Church and taught the Adult Sunday School class for over 20 years. Lawrence was a devoted Christian and loved to serve the Lord. His family meant more to him than life itself; and his grandchildren were the light of his life. He was a lifetime resident of the area and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Richard Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be: Arthur Lawson, Tim Lowe, Gary Dye, David Simmons, Hunter Williams, Chad Williams, Neal Lawson and Jimmy Lockhart. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Curtis Smith, Bob McGlothlin, Ellis Lester, Claude Hess, Clyde Null. A military graveside service will be conducted by the Casey-Shortt VFW Post# 9640.
