Leslie Clayton Honaker

Leslie Clayton Honaker, age 74 of Tazewell, VA died Monday, February 10, 2014 at his home in Tazewell, VA. He was born September 15, 1939 at Iaeger, WV and was a son of the late Hobert and Elizabeth Mullins Honaker. Les attended Whitewood High School and had worked much of his life as an insurance agent with People’s / Monumental Insurance Company. Mr. Honaker was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Tazewell, VA. He enjoyed fishing, hanging wallpaper and spending quality time with his children and spoiling his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Dwayne Honaker; four brothers, Herman, Marion, Bill and Sherman Honaker; three sisters, Hannah Hawkins, Lorene Honaker and Ellen Johnson. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Bridget Rynne Honaker; three sons, David Honaker and wife, Mayra of San Antonio, TX, Matthew Honaker of Tazewell, VA and Shannon Honaker and wife, Victoria of North Tazewell, VA; three sisters, Thelma Murphy of Mavisdale, VA, Marie Mullins and husband, Burton of Pilgrim Knob, VA and Mildred Hess and husband, Ernest of Tazewell, VA; one brother, George Honaker and wife, Juanita of Hurley, VA; one aunt, Mabel Mullins of Raven, VA; four grandchildren, Jessica Hopson, Christopher Honaker, Benjamin Mason and Joseph Garlitz; special friends, Mike and Janet McDonagh of Springville, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends. The Rite of Christian Burial will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Tazewell, VA with Father Burt Sare officiating. The Rite of Committal will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Building Fund: 304 Tazewell, Ave. Tazewell, VA 24651.
