Lillie Scyphers

Lillie Mae Scyphers, age 81 of the Mundytown Community of North Tazewell, VA passed away peacefully with her family by her side Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Tazewell Community Hospital, Tazewell, VA. Born May 19, 1927 at Blackie, VA she was a daughter of the late William and Amanda Cooper Church. Mrs. Scyphers was a former resident of Bradshaw, WV and had been a resident of North Tazewell, VA for the last twenty-four years. She enjoyed retirement with her husband of sixty-one years, the late Joseph M. Scyphers. Mrs. Scyphers enjoyed spending time with her family and being a devoted servant of the Lord for the last forty-eight years. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Scyphers was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters; she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Tommy J. Scyphers and wife, Donna of Mansfield, OH, Naomi Baker and husband, Estil of Asheboro, NC, James R. Scyphers and wife, Legrthel of Lerona, WV, Carol Rowe of Sophia, NC, Brenda Roberts and husband, Dale of North Tazewell, VA, Debra Caldwell of Camden, SC, and Donna Adams and husband, Kenny of Thomasville, NC; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; a host of other loving family and friends; special friends and caregivers at Tazewell Community Hospital; Dr. Eric Shrader, and Dr. Manohar Chenchugalla. Funeral services for Lillie Mae Scyphers will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, February 15, 2009 at the Tazewell Family Worship Center located at 112 Faith Street, North Tazewell, VA, with the Rev. Roy Lee Smith, the Rev. Lawrence Hayes, and Brother Don Waddell officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Mrs. Scyphers’ grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Tazewell Family Worship Center from 7 – 9 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2009, where a brief time of memory sharing, conducted by her grandson, will conclude the visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in the memory of Mrs. Scyphers to the Tazewell Family Worship Center, 112 Faith Street, North Tazewell, VA 24630; the Light of Life Ministries c/o of Rev.
