Linda Carol Byrd

Linda Carol Shelton Byrd, age 74 of Raven, Virginia was at home, surrounded by her family when she drew her last breath and was reunited with her loved ones in heaven on Saturday, April 13, 2019. She was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Earl Shelton and Lorraine Salyers Shelton. Linda dedicated her life to caring for her family, and was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was of the Pentecostal faith and a lifetime resident of the area. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Dewey Thomas Byrd, Jr.; son, Gregory Dye; Brothers, Cecil Earl Shelton, Randall Shelton and Ernie Shelton. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are: Her daughters: Wanda Lawson and husband, Herman of Raven, VA Sherry Joyce and fiancé Dennis Prichett of SC Son, Richard Byrd of Raven, VA Daughter of the heart, Angela Smith and her daughters, Morgan Joyce, Amelia Joyce and Salem Smith. Sisters: Marie Byrd of NC Patricia Norman of FL Connie Ramsey of Cedar Bluff, VA Barbara Blackwell of Richlands, VA Earline Reynolds of Swords creek, VA Brother, Allen Shelton of Wardell, VA Brother-in-law, Hassel Byrd of IL Five grandchildren, Kristen Lawson McVey and husband, Kenneth; Cody Sisk and wife, Keshia; Jessica Mosolgo and husband, Robert; Jarrett Stiltner; and Dakota Joyce Five great-grandchildren, Ricky Sisk, Kennedy McVey, Nevaeh Mosolgo, Colton Mosolgo and Harlee Rife. Several nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive her. The funeral service for Linda Carol Byrd will be conducted at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Reverend’s Otis Musick, Dennis White and Danny Houchins officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Cody Sisk, Jarrett Stiltner, Dalton Troxel, Alan Lowe, Jordan Griffith, Arthur Blevins. The family will begin receiving friends at 6:00pm on Monday evening at the funeral home.
