Lindsey Walter Harman

Lindsey Walter Harman, age 85, of North Tazewell, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Clinch Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. Lindsey was born on April 9, 1937 in Tazewell County and was the son of the late Brown “Cowboy” Harman and Catherine “Kate” McGuire Harman. He grew up on a farm in the Goose Creek/Whitley Branch area where he started working on the farm at age 5, helping in the fields. He graduated in 1955 from Tazewell High School and loved those Bulldogs. He went on to the West Virginia Business College, graduating with a degree in business. He worked as salesman at Dixie Appliance Company for over 35 years. He retired from that job and started working as a salesman for TheraPedic Bedding for the next 15 years. Once again faced with another retirement, he decided to become a driver for the four-county-transit. Lindsey enjoyed this job the most, he loved socializing and talking to the passengers. Lindsey was raised in the Christian faith and attended the North Tazewell United Methodist Church. He loved to play golf with his friends and was a devoted member of the North Tazewell Lions Club for over 55 years. Lindsey loved helping with fundraisers, helping in the community, and collecting eye glasses to be used by those in need. He never met a stranger and always wore a smile. He was a three time cancer survivor and never let the troubles of this world defeat him. Lindsey was met in heaven by his parents, his sister, Gladys Ann Harman; brothers, David Harman, Donald Harman, Litz Harman, Brown Harman Jr., and John Harman. Those that remain to carry on his joyful spirit are his: Loving wife of 59 years, Wilma Jean Stilwell Harman of North Tazewell, VA Daughter, Monica Lynn Wix of North Tazewell, VA Son, Chadwick Seth Harman of North Tazewell, VA Brother, Douglas Harman of Abingdon, VA The joy of his life, his granddaughter, Rosalyn Nicole Wix, of North Tazewell, VA Several nieces and nephews also survive him, along with a host of friends, Lindsey will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. The funeral service for Lindsey Harman will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the Hurst-Scott Chapel in Tazewell with the Chaplain Lt. Colonel David K. Beavers officiating. Entombment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Claypool Hill, VA. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. The family will begin receiving friends at 12:00 noon on Sunday at the funeral home until time of service.
