Lois Lazetta Buskell Chambers

Lois Lazetta Buskell Chambers age 85, of Christiansburg, Virginia passed away on March 5, 2024, at Commonwealth Senior Living in Radford, Virginia. It is ironic she passed on Super Tuesday. She had insisted long after not driving, that she wanted to keep her license up to date so she could vote. She had worked the polls for many years and had great pride in her party and country. She was born on Kents Ridge in Richlands, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Kelly McIvan Buskell, Sr. and Edith Russell Buskell. Lois was a Richlands High School graduate Class of 1956. She was involved in many school activities like basketball, majorette, and May Court. As a beautiful southern woman of her time, she was voted “most courteous.” In other words, if you don’t have something nice to say it’s best to say nothing at all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother Kelly Ivan Buskell, Jr., two sisters, Oretta Buskell and Wanda Buskell Kress, and one brother-in-law, Jack P. Chambers. The survivors are her former husband, Joseph R. Chambers. Daughter, Susan Chambers Nork and her husband, Bill of Charlotte, NC. Grandsons, Will Nork of FL and Josh Nork of Charlotte, NC. Sister, Zelma Jean Buskell and Al Scott of Harpers Ferry, WV. Former brother-in-law, John Bales of AZ. Nieces and nephews, Dawn Chilson, Phyllis Boyer, Randy Kress, and Chea Buskell Lockwood. Lois dabbled with higher education and various interesting jobs early in life but chose to support her husband and raise a family. In the 1960’s, and 70’s, she created a wholesome atmosphere just like you read about in books. Her volunteer work is well known from girl-scouts to her beloved church, St. Paul Methodist Church where she worshiped for 53 years. But her favorite job was working at the University Florist in Blacksburg, Virginia for Susan and Carter. She was the best salesperson we ever had. One of her favorite jobs was doing the arrangements on the set of the “Dirty Dancing” movie filmed at Mountain Lake in the late 80’s. Lois had chosen a peaceful private burial in Richlands, which was taken care of by Hurst-Scott Funeral Home. She would want to leave you with this…. Please don’t be sad I am gone, instead be happy that I was here. After all, I finally made my way to heaven which is something I believed all my life.
