Luther "Booty" Richards

Luther Hershey “Booty” Richards, age 78, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, Virginia following a lengthy illness. He was born October 1, 1933 in Oakvale, West Virginia and was the son of the late Fred and Amanda Richards of Oakvale, West Virginia. He was a lifelong resident of the Richlands area and was a former coalminer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Richlands Tabernacle for thirty-nine years. He loved his church family especially Ralph and Doris Horton and Bob and Kathy Osborne. He loved his family and his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his special grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Dora Marks of Georgia; three brothers, Clarence “Coon” Richards of Richlands, Virginia, Hobert Richards of Oakvale, West Virginia, and Russell Richards of Alabama. Those who survive him are: His loving wife of 54 years, Beatrice Richards of Richlands, Virginia Three Daughters: Brenda “Peanut” Richards of the home Susan Richards of the home Linda Puckett and husband, Ronnie of Cedar Bluff, Virginia One Son, Stevie Richards of the home Two Grandchildren, Amanda Richards and R.J. Puckett of Richlands, Virginia Two Great Grandchildren, Abby Puckett and Khloe Puckett of Richlands, Virginia One Sister, Augusta Spangler and husband, Pete of St. Cloud, Florida One Brother, Everett Richards Special Grandchildren, Morgan Clifton, Courtney Cline, Samantha Cline and Zachary Cline Several Nieces and Nephews also survive along with a host of extended friends. Funeral services for Luther Hershey “Booty” Richards will be conducted Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Richlands Tabernacle in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Ralph Horton and Rev. Bob Osborne officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia. The American Veterans Association Honor Guard and Tazewell County Chapter #31 D.A.V will conduct military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be: Johnny Carver, Johnny Horton, Ricky Cline, Adam Cordle, Andrew Cordle, Bobby McGraw, Brian McGraw, Eddie Cordle or Eddie Street. Honorary Pallbearers will be Men of the Bible Class of Richlands Tabernacle.
