Mable Elizabeth Jennelle Matney

Mable Elizabeth Jennelle Matney, age 87 of North Tazewell, VA died Monday, July 11, 2016 at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN. She was born October 10, 1928 at Jewell Ridge, VA and was a daughter of the late Samuel Burgess, Sr. and Annie Mae Burgess. Mable attended Richlands High School and had worked for many years as a cook for various adult care facilities and hospitals. She loved attending Church and was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Tabernacle in Baptist Valley, VA. She was a member of the Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136 Ladies Auxiliary in Tazewell, VA. Mable loved working in her flower gardens, cooking and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John B. Jennelle, Sr.; her second husband, Cecil Matney; one daughter, Beatrice “Ann” Jennelle Asbury; one son, Ricky Lee Jennelle; two sisters, Dorothy Hinkle Bernard, and Lucille Watson; one brother, Samuel Burgess, Jr. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Those who survive to cherish her memory include two sons, John B. Jennelle and wife, Dorothy “Dot” and Jim Jennelle and wife, Linda both of Gratton, VA; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Jennelle of Tazewell, VA; one step-daughter Linda Boatwright and husband, Richard of Mt. Holly, NC; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends also survive. Funeral Services for Mable Elizabeth Jennelle Matney will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Rev. Peggy Carr officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers will be Christopher Jennelle, Scott Jennelle, Michael Jennelle, Brian Jennelle, Greg Layne and Aaron Jennelle. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Kinder, and Herman Clements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12:00 P.M. (Noon) Thursday, July 14, 2016.
