Mack Church

Mack Robert Church, age 81, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 8, 2010 in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital surrounded by his family. He was born October 19, 1928 in Buchanan County and was the son of the late John Robert and Cora McKinney Church. He had made his home in the Cedar Bluff area since 1973 and was a retired tipple operator working 38 years for Jewell Smokeless Coal Corporation in Vansant, Virginia. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mack enjoyed working on cars, traveling, and getting together with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Lucian, Luther, Elihu, Carl, and Albert Church and two grandchildren, Bobby Dean Stanford and Kristie Mylynda Johnson. Survivors are: His Loving and Devoted Wife of 62 years: Irene Sweet Church Two Daughters: Virginia Carol Stanford and husband, Robert of Pounding Mill, Virginia Lynda Kay Johnson and husband, Darrell of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Four Grandchildren: Robert Mack Stanford of Pounding Mill, Virginia Timothy Lee Stanford of Pounding Mill, Virginia Michael Darrell Johnson and wife, Melanie of Piney Flats, TN Kimberly Michelle Johnson Hurd and husband, Kevin of Abingdon, Virginia Four Great Grandchildren: Jordan Dakota Dye, Gavin Michael Johsnon, Connor Allen Johnson, and soon to be born, Kynlee Mariella Johnson. One Sister: Ivory McGuinn of Roanoke, Virginia and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive. Funeral services for Mack Robert Church will be conducted Friday, March 12, 2010 at 1:00pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Ministers Bob Smith, Richard Smith, and Roger Lester officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Robbie Stanford, Tim Stanford, Michael Johnson, Leonard Keene, Allen Johnson, and Curtis Smith.
