Margaret Cole

Mrs. Margaret L. Cole, age 96, of Abingdon, Virginia formerly of Whitewood, Virginia, went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 22, 2007 at her home. Loving mother to her children and grandchildren and had a warm smile for everyone. Born December 28, 1910 in Abingdon, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Lillian Preston Johnson Cunningham. She was a member of the Green Springs Presbyterian Church in Abingdon, Virginia. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star NR.104, Richlands, Virginia and the Senior Citizens of Whitewood, Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey W. Cole; one son, Dewey Franklin Cole, three sisters, and four brothers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors are: One son: Jack C. Cole and wife, Beverly of Abingdon, Virginia Five Daughters: Geneva Millspaugh and husband, Jack of Abingdon, Virginia Marguerite Hobbs Elkins of Abingdon, Virginia Linda Frazier and husband, Gorman of Abingdon, Virginia Barbara Presley of Abingdon, Virginia Ann Smith and husband, Bill of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren also survive. Special Caretakers: Dr. Simon Pennings, Dr. Wiley Kent, Home Health Nurses and Staff, and The Staff of the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home for their loving care. Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret L. Cole will be conducted Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 2:00pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Dr. Frank Preston, Rev. Troy Lester, and Rev. Jimmie Cole officiating. Special music will be by Rev. Michael Altizer and wife, Carlene. Interment will follow at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Mike Altizer, Eugene Altizer, Bobby R. Altizer, John R. Hobbs, Jack W. Cole, Jim Russ Childress, Charles A. Presley, Jimmy Blankenship, William Sargent, Mike Stoots, Tim Mason, Gary Childress, Bruce Frazier, and Carlton Frazier. Honorary Pallbearers will be: George McCall II, George McCall III, John McCall, Joe McCall, James Cole, Lowell Cole, Paul Kennedy, Carl Cunningham, Jim Cunningham, Gene Widner, Mark Thomas, Kyle Robinson, Gene Hurst, Paul Cook, Johnny Aven, Mike Shaver, and the Green Springs Fire Department. Friends may call from 6:00pm until 9:00pm Tuesday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia. The Order of the Eastern Star NR 104 will hold services at 7:00pm Tuesday evening.
