Margie Altizer Quesenberry

Margie Altizer Quesenberry, age 76 of Valls Creek, WV died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at her home. She was born April 24, 1937 at Canebrake, WV and was a daughter of the late Kermit and Virginia Jackson Altizer. Mrs. Quesenberry was a 1956 Graduate of Big Creek High School and worked as a cashier for both Jones & Spry Grocery in Squire, WV and at the Company Store in Bishop, VA. She was a lady filled with kindness and generosity, who loved kids. She was a member of the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church in Canebrake, WV and she was a member of the Ellison Rebekah Lodge #90 in Newhall, WV and the “Red Hatters”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Quesenberry; two sisters, Barbara “Bootsie” Chapman and Pat “Snooki” Pruitt. Those left to cherish her memories include her sons, Johnny Quesenberry and wife, Vicki and Rev. Wade Quesenberry and wife, Vicki, both of North Tazewell, VA; two grandchildren, Nicholas Quesenberry and Madison Quesenberry; special children, Kimber Dunford, Brandon Dunford, Aiden Dunford, Cody Hamilton, Esau Hamilton, Haven Sterling, Mattie Sterling, Caleb Carter and John Keene; special nieces, Jennifer Duty and Lisa Shepherd; special great nieces, Tara Shepherd and Jenna Duty; special great nephews, Brandon Shepherd and Brock Duty; special cousins, Diane, Crystal, April and Misty; special friends, Violet Franklin, Terry and Bucky Dunford, Brenda and Gary Barton, Cathy Hughes, Patsy Billips, Flo and Bart Toney, Cookie Hayes, Wanda Bailey, Virginia Peters, Aileen Smith and Peggy Lewis; her Church family at Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church; a host of friends and loved ones. Funeral services for Margie Altizer Quesenberry will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Hurst – Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Rev. Darrell Long officiating with a tribute from the ladies of the Ellison Rebekah Lodge. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 9 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2014.
