Maxine Harmon Crigger

Maxine Harmon Crigger, age 73 of Thomasville, NC died Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at her home. She was born August 28, 1942 in Tazewell County, VA and was a daughter of the late Robert Slimp and Nervie Sparks Harmon. Mrs. Crigger was of the Baptist faith and was a lady who had a heart of gold. She had worked for many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Maxine took great joy in helping others; whether she knew them or just heard of their need, she would gather food and other necessities from her own cupboards and cabinets to aid in their relief. She was an avid couponer who also had a love of music and reading; when she lost her sight, she would listen to books on tape. Mrs. Crigger’s life was one of love and compassion; she will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Lee Crigger; two brothers, Carlos Harmon and Robert Harmon. Those who survive to cherish her memories include three daughters, Janet Nalley of Trinity, NC, Robin Atwood and husband, Tommy of Murfreesboro, TN and Vicki Crisostomo and husband, Frank of Midway, NC; two sons, Jason Woodrow and wife, Rebecca of Lexington, NC and Steven Adam Woodrow of Thomasville, NC; two sisters, Beulah Beavers of Cedar Bluff, VA and Shirley Snell of Bluefield, VA; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends also survive. Funeral Services for Maxine Harmon Crigger will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Hurst – Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Rev. Bobby Laney officiating, with a special dedication from Mrs. Crigger’s closest friend, Linda Carver. Burial will follow at the Bandy Cemetery in Cedar Bluff, VA. Pallbearers will be Dennis Cochran, Blake Cochran, Danny Cochran, Alex Buskill, Chris Cadle and Jeff Cochran. Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Snell and Curtis Cochran.
