Mildred Taylor

Mildred Nancy Rasnick Taylor, age 84, of Steelesburg, Virginia, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010 in a Claypool Hill, Virginia retirement home following a lengthy illness. She was born January 26, 1926 in Steelesburg, Virginia and was the daughter of the late James Walker and Stella Gray McGuire Rasnick. She was a retired school teacher, having taught 35 years in the Tazewell County School System. She was a graduate of Richlands High School Class of 1944 and received her B.S. Degree from Radford College and a M.A. Degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richlands, Virginia where she was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Josephine White Circle, and the Wesleyan Sunday School Class, and served on the Administrative Council. She was a member and Past President of the Steelesburg Homemakers Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, James William Taylor; one sister, Sandra Rasnick; and one brother, John Frances Rasnick; and one nephew, Robert Rasnick. Survivors are: One Daughter: Claudia Petrovski and husband, Goran of Macon, GA Four Sisters: Hattie Roisch of Cedar Bluff, VA Faye Miller of Vinton, VA Catherine Bordwine and husband, Donald of Pounding Mill, VA Margaret Rasnick of Cedar Bluff, VA One Brother: James W. Rasnick and wife, Betty of Cedar Bluff, VA Two Grandchildren: Christopher Reynolds of Abingdon, Virginia and James William Taylor, II of San Diego, California Two Great Grandsons: Taylor Hamilton and Charlie Thomas Reynolds, II Funeral services for Mildred Nancy Rasnick Taylor will be conducted Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 8:00pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Larry Ramey officiating. Interment will follow in the Rasnick Family Cemetery at Steelesburg, Virginia on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 4:30pm. Pallbearers will be: Goran Petrovski, Christopher Reynolds, Charlie Reynolds, James Taylor, Tom Taylor, Brent Warner, Barry Alley and Donald Bordwine. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Claude Reedy, Monroe Pruitt, Richard Cole, Mark Bordwine, and Members of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class.
