Mollie Meadows

Mollie Belle Altizer Horne Meadows, age 79 of Pounding Mill, Virginia was born February 23, 1933 in the Bearwallow section of Jewell Ridge, Virginia to the late Rufus Britten, Sr., and Della Pearl Day Altizer. Mollie departed this life March 9, 2012 at her home after a long courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She had lived upon this earth for 79 years and 15 days. She was a member of the Harbor Light Holiness Church. After giving her heart to Jesus at the age of thirty-three, her life mainly consisted of regular church services, homecoming meetings, fellowship meetings, camp meetings and revivals. She loved to attend them all. She was just like the psalmist when he said, “I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the House of the Lord.” She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred Nelson Horne, Sr.; sons, Alfred Nelson Horn, Jr., and Elden Todd Meadows; Sisters, Carrie Altizer, Lera Shortt, Ruby Ward and brothers, Roy and John Altizer. She is survived by: Her husband of fifty-five years, Tivis Meadows of Pounding Mill, VA Sons: Roy Horne and wife Nancy of Paintlick,VA Joe Horne and wife Deborah of Raven,VA Keith Horne and wife Linda of Belfast,VA Alan Meadows and wife Linda of Paintlick,VA Doug Meadows and wife Mary of Paintlick,VA Rockie Meadows and wife Tammie of Pounding Mill,VA Daughter-in-law, Tamara Meadows of Lebanon,VA Daughters: Dianna Vandyke and husband Ricky of Lebanon,VA Mary Elder and husband Terry of Taylorsville, NC Tammy Wampler and husband Adam of Haysi,VA Carrie Mitchell and husband Donald of Doran,VA Sharon Stilwell and husband Danny of Paintlick,VA Kimberly Atkins and husband Nick of Lexington, NC Sisters: Virginia Smith of Richlands,VA Kate Honaker of Ozark,Al Sadie Mackey of Bearwallow Brothers: Albert Altizer of Jewell Ridge,VA Henley Altizer of Cedar Bluff,VA Rufus Britten Altizer of Jewell Ridge,VA Special caregivers, Legacy Hospice and Community Home Health Mollie is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services for Mollie Meadows will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Westside Holiness Church in Raven, Virginia with the Rev. Alan Meadows and Rev. Fonzo Randolph officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery in Claypool Hill, VA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends at 6:00 pm on Sunday evening at the Westside Holiness Church in Raven, VA with a service beginning at 7:00 pm.
