Mose Markham

Mose Markham, age 86, of Richlands, Virginia passed away Friday, August 3, 2012 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell, Virginia. Mr. Markham was born in the Maiden Springs area of Tazewell County, Virginia and was a son of the late Henry and Mary Lewis Markham. Mose loved to be outdoors; he enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing when his health permitted it. He was a retired coal miner, having worked at many area mines. He was a lifelong resident of the Richlands area and was a member of New Life Ministries Church at Pounding Mill, Virginia. Mose was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest; always joking and smiling, he never knew a stranger. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son, William R. Markham, one sister, Helen Markham Addison and one brother, Walter Markham. Those who survive him are: His loving wife, Virginia Ruth Whitt Markham Three Daughters: Carol Jane Russell and husband, Charles of Staunton, Virginia Judy Ratliff Garreffa and husband, John of Richlands, Virginia Karen Casey of Richlands, Virginia One Sister: Myrtle Sarver of Falls Mills, Virginia Seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson also survive him along with a host of nieces, nephews and other family mem and friends, such as his special friends and caregivers at Heritage Hall Care in Tazewell, Virginia and Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, Virginia. Funeral services for Mose Markham will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Rev. David Osborne officiating. Interment will follow at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery, Richlands, Virginia. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Harry Dye, Paul Smith and Babe Coleman. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home; 1401 Second Street; Richlands, Virginia.
