Norman Frost Adkins

Mr. Norman Frost Adkins, age 94, of Tazewell, Virginia, passed away following a lengthy illness on Thursday, December 21, 2023, with his loving family at his side. Norman was born in Berwind, West Virginia, on January 26, 1929, and was the son of the late Jesse Adkins and Elva Bandy Adkins. He was a loving son, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. Norman was a US Air Force veteran who served during the Korean War and received many commendations. Norman came from a very musical family. In his youth, he played the guitar and sang on a radio program with his twin sister, Norma. Following his military service, Norman made a career with the Federal Government, retiring from Dulles International Airport. Norman loved his family and friends and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Lena Rutherford Adkins. Sisters Norma Hendrix, JoAnne Hagy, Dorothy Adkins, Juanita Pyle, and half-sister Ruth Adkins. Brothers Gene Adkins, Glen Adkins, Jesse Adkins, and half-brother Howard Adkins. Those that remain to carry on his loving spirit are his: Daughter, Vickie Sedgwick, and husband, Kelly Collins of Tazewell, Virginia Granddaughter, Tiffany O'Quinn and husband, Anthony O'Quinn of Tazewell, Virginia Great-grandson, Robert Andrew "Drew" Hall and fiancée, Valentina Hodge of Pearisburg, Virginia Great-great Granddaughter Mollie Kae Hall and Step Great-Great Grandson, Jackson Gilbert, also of Pearisburg, Virginia Sisters, Yvonne Turner of Waynesboro, Virginia, and Loretta Saunders of Ft. Wayne, IN. Brother Jerry Adkins of Beckley, West Virginia Many Nieces and Nephews also remain. A private service with military honors was held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Virginia, with Pastor Don Elswick officiating. Those serving as pallbearers were Kelly Collins, Anthony O'Quinn, and Drew Hall. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
